About Us:

Serious Platform Productions Inc. consists of Sean, son R.J, son Steve, and Dale. Steve, Sean, and RJ After growing up in a trucking family and working on trucks since Dad would allow it, at about age 12 it started and 25 years later I still have the trucking bug. Leaving my Dad’s tanker business, and wanting to give steel hauling a try, started me down a path that I had no idea would lead to this. Steel hauling showed me first hand that all flatbeds are not created equal. They are created for the masses and designed for hauling evenly distributed loads. After hauling heavy single piece loads and oversize stuff, I had broken nearly everything that could be broken on a flat bed trailer. Completely frustrated with the so called “Industry Standard” repairs that I was paying my hard earned money for, simply to find out that they were fixing symptoms of my problems and not fixing the real problem. The cracks and broken metal simply reappeared over and over.
During this process I had met my good friend Tom Hill, he was working at the rail car division at Bethlehem Steel in Johnstown, PA. Little did he know that I was really paying attention to his explanation of why my trailer was breaking up? Basically he was explaining the power or stress flow of a steel structure, which was my sorry ass flatbed trailer. Learning to think of the phrase “A chain is only as strong as it’s weakest link” I, over time applied that to doing my own repairs. Mostly after moving 300 miles away and always consulting Tom about repairs first. While trucking I continued to make modifications to my trailer, and correct all of the “weak links” from front to back.
d Several years passed and things were going good, I was finally gaining on my problems and I was enjoying a strong modified flatbed. In 1996 my soon to be wife & I moved into our 1st house and I started to clear land to build my own shop to maintain and keep my truck and trailer. Shortly after my shop was built and even before we had laid the concrete, I had been diagnosed with stage 2b Lymphatic Cancer. I ended up selling my truck and trailer, and staying busy with chemotherapy and the aftermath for over a year. I was able to spend time learning how to work a computer, and doing some small projects in my new shop.
Well long story short I was like a mad scientist and my boys and I have been fixing all kinds of problems ever since. We have developed some fixes to nagging suspension problems that in short will never be fixed by the manufacturer, because the trailers will last to long. This is sad but true. So thanks to fate, my wife (for putting up with my business obsession), my sons, and the addition of our good friend Dale, the sky is the limit for what we can do. We are limited by our current space, and that will change soon. The underlying driving force here @ SPP is quality first and foremost. Yes it is more expensive, but we have taken the high road for quality first to this point, as long as we are here that will never change. It is summed up well by one of our good customers this way: “There is only one “Q” in the alphabet MOTHER # #*#& @ #!!!!!!!!” so take your pick, quantity or quality. We chose quality.

Thanks for Listening!
